How can i boot from vhd in windows 7?

I am facing a problem as I cannot boot from vhd in windows 7. With Windows 7 i can install and boot windows from a VHD. Diskpart.exe understands the format of VHD files and can make a VHD appear as just another hard disk partition. While Quebec was in Beta we were able to create an image in a VHD file. This no longer works with Embedded Standard or SP1 (it hangs after all drivers are loaded, or we get an 0x7 BSOD). Can some one help me out with it that why is it happening? I fully understand the problem. A lot of people have asked this and i think this is certainly becoming a common problem which needs a more specific and well-defined answer and reason.

The cause of the problem may be the dynamic disk format. Try converting it to basic. Maybe you forgot /set osdevice. It worked for me: C: bcdedit/set {guid} device vhd=[driveletter:] C:>bcdedit/set {guid} osdevice vhd=[driverletter:]C:>bcdedit /set {guid} detecthal on. www.hanselman.com
