In Windows Media Center, you can play audio CDs and DVD movies. You can also play DVDs and CDs of data (records containing digital media files such as MP3, WMV and JPEG).

Playback of CDs and DVDs in Media Center is better when using a Media Center remote control. Make sure the remote control type using Media Center is compatible with your computer.

Play a DVD in Media Center
To understand the way in which the computer manages multimedia content by inserting a CD or DVD on your computer, see Change AutoPlay settings.

Vista may have compatibility issues with older versions of players such as BSPlayer or Media Player Classic (repeat: older versions). Basically, we try to play video and the screen (the player) is in black, but sound is heard. To solve this we must go to player compatibility options (clicking on the executable or the shortcut properties and "Compatibility" tab). Here we mark the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2", "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition", ie, leaving him in the picture:

The compatibility issue is caused by AERO and transparencies. In any case, no more than a nuisance that is solved using players fully compatible with Vista.

The information presented has been verified by the signer in Windows XP SP1 and SP2 and Windows Vista with the aforementioned players (except GOM and referred to in paragraph i) and avi, wmv, mkv, ogm and mp4 players, video codecs Divx, Xvid (other versions), x.264 and H.264 and MP3, AAC, OGG and AC3 without problems. The DVD playback and video mpg also work correctly.
Rm files and RealPlayer and QuickTime mov reproduce almost all with RealPlayer Alternative and QuickTime Alternative MediaPlayerClassic using the player.
