Apple’s proposed wireless headset to challenge Google Glasses

Is Google’s Project Glass headset going to get a rival from Apple? A recent patent application from the Cupertino tech innovator discloses its plan to design a Bluetooth headset with an integrated MP3 player. It looks that Apple is also working with a new generation iPod Shuffle. Maybe, the proposed headset will be an ideal music system for the new Shuffle and it will have a design beyond a set of cans.

What is amazing with the new Apple headset is that it sports a microphone. Many analysts think that it may bring Siri-powered navigation system to the device. Users will be able to speak to the headset to select tracks, play and pause. Indeed, integration of Siri will give a potential edge for the headset over its competitors including the projected Google Glasses. It will give users a comfort of navigation without stretching their hands towards the device.

In its patent application, Apple calls the device as a “wireless headset with integrated media player.” In fact, there is no explicit mention that the device will be a complete heads-up display (HUD). However, a headset from Apple will realize lots of innovative capabilities and once embedded with Siri it will be further rich.

Anyway, a patent application and its approval by the U.S patent authority doesn’t mean that it is a product certain to realize. It is only a possibility. Apple may design such a product anytime, because its patent will be in its hands. Anyway, we can keep out fingers crossed to see whether Apple will bring this product into reality anytime soon.
