Anonymous unveils Ubuntu-based OS, Anonymous-OS for unknown purposes

Notorious Internet meme Anonymous has uncovered its own operating system, dubbed the Anonymous-OS Live for unidentified purposes. It is based on Ubuntu 11.10 and uses Mate desktop. Developers of the software reportedly warn users not to use the tool to attack any web sites. At the same time, it is described that the new OS is developed for educational purposes and checking the security of web sites.

Anonymous has exposed scanty details about its new operating system project. The developers have, of course, warned users not to use the software for any malicious purposes. Attacking a web page might end up the hacker in jail because most of countries count the act as crime, the developers of the Anonymous-OS notify on a Tumblr blog, which is clearly meant to provide updates on the OS project.

Amazingly, Anonymous-OS shows DuckDuckGo as the default search engine. It is not also clear why Anonymous has chosen DuckDuckGo for its web searching, but some analysts think it is a relevant choice for a Linux-based firmware. The operating system certainly comes with lots of preloaded apps, which include ParolaPass Password Generator, Find Host IP, Anonymous HOIC, Ddosim, TorsHammer and lots of others.

Remember, the software is not from a credible source. So there is better chance that it would be backdoored by hackers or law enforcement companies. The Ubuntu-based Anonymous-OS Live is available for download for all; but the developers warn people to download it at their own risk.
