what to do of access denied error?

I recently bought my laptop which has windows 7 installed in it. It has 2GB RAM ,and processor is core i3 which is the latest. The main problem is that when I am opening my d drive ,it is showing access denied error and not opening the folder. One of my friend told me that it is you have opened the internet without antivirus so a virus attacked my D drive. Is it true or false. Tell me what may be the reason.

Introduction to the problem

Well there is nothing to worry about, it seems like a file system conflict to me. It may even be an administrative privilege problem.

Solution 1: (permission conflict)

Firstly you need to make sure you are logged on the computer using an administrative account and no one has fiddled with the security permissions (windows 7 is peculiarly paranoid about unauthorized access to the system).

Secondly, right click on the drive >properties

Go to the security tab click advanced

Go to effective permissions--- add your username(administrative) to the tab [or just click browse and select it] check all the boxes except special permissions [they should not be granted to anything except system files].

Solution 2: (file system conflict)

If the above solution doesn't work for you then it is probably a file system conflict; check the file system on the other drives it should be NTFS, if your D drive does not have this system then you can look up http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb456984.aspx.

This will provide you a detailed description on how to change the file system

I think that should solve your problem!! Hope I helped!!
