Will a 7200 RPM laptop drive overheat in the following conditions?

I have a laptop that uses a 2.5 inch 4200 RPM drive and therefore has no hard drive cooling arrangements whatsoever. Would a 2.5 inch 7200 RPM drive overheat to the point that it would stop working, or cause any heat problems with the laptop itself? There is no issue of power since I'm using a 100 watt AC adaptor instead of the default 90 watt one, and this laptop's is long out of warranty. Looking for expert advices only. Please help me.

A 7200 RPM mobile hard drive will definitely run hotter than your current 4200 RPM drive. But a mobile drive is optimized to run cooler in most situations so that it doesn't affect normal laptop operations. Therefore, it is most likely that your new 7200 RPM hard drive will run fine without hampering on your laptop.
