In the ever thriving market of mobile operating systems, two exalted names have already created a niche for themselves. Yes, we are talking about Apple's iOS and Google's Android. Time and again, these systems have been at commercial confrontation with each other over a multitude of great smartphones and tablet platforms. But finally it seems, Google had decided to release that ultimate OS (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) that would cater to both smartphones and tablets (much in the line of its eminent competitor iOS). But, with iOS only serving Apple devices, and ICS being that 'collective' open source OS; the 'smart' mobile device market share is expected to be finally conquered by Google. In relation to this, let us check out the newest of the devices to be powered (or are in the line to be powered) by the latest Android system.

1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus
The Galaxy Nexus from the house of the Korean giant, was the very first smartphone in the market to be powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This is certainly (and technologically) poetic, because two of its predecessors (Nexus One and Nexus S) were the first devices to be launched with two earlier versions of Android (Froyo and Gingerbread). Coming back to the Galaxy Nexus; this is a smartphone that scores high on almost every attribute. Featuring that ultra-sleek bearing with a thinness of 0.35-inch and a weight of 4.8 ounces, the contraption comes power packed with TI OMAP 4460 dual core Cortex A9 processor and 1GB RAM. On the frontier of display too, the phone is integrated with 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD Screen (with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels). But the most innovative feature is of course the Ice Cream Sandwich OS, with its stylish home screen, revamped notifications and a plethora of visual improvements.

2. Samsung Galaxy S II
Though in its current iteration, the Galaxy S II is a Gingerbread (Android 2.3) platform, this is one of the very special smartphones about to be upgraded to ICS by early 2012. Since the tremendous palaver surrounding its release, the machine has been already touted as the best Android phone. Well, the specs are there to back this claim up - the phone comes with a dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and an advanced quad-core Mali-400 graphics processor (for more sophisticated programs such as HD video editing tools). Even on the features frontier, the fascinatingly thin phone (at 3.7 ounces and 0.33 inch) has a 4.27-inch super AMOLED screen with 800x480 pixels resolution, TouchWiz 4.0 and a 8 MP primary camera, which can capture images at a whopping 3264x2448 pixels and HD videos at 1080p.

3. HTC Rezound
The American counterpart to HTC's Sensation XL, the Rezound is among the selected few that would be upgraded to a complete Ice Cream Sandwich system. Now, from the first looks, Rezound is an intriguing device that sort of combines the best of other phone. To be infused with brilliant features such as the powerful 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MDM9600 processor (supplemented by 1GB of RAM), a full fledged 4.3-inch 720p HD touch display and a credible 8 MP primary camera system with full 1080p video capability, Rezound seals the deal with its 4G LTE connectivity (from Verizon). And if that was not enough, the phone will also come with HTC's very own Beat Audio technology, with greater emphasis on sharper audio with an exhilarating bass boost.

4. HTC Ville
Yet another device from the furnaces of the Taiwanese electronic giant, the HTC Ville will be among a very few smartphones that would come with a dedicated Android 4.0 OS (as opposed to Rezound, which will be upgraded later). Powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon Series 4 processor and having features like a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, HTC Sense 4.0 (HTC's customized user interface over Android), the defining attribute of the device will certainly be its petite thickness of 0.31mm. Of course, all of these will be complimented by the special Beat Audio technology (that we have mentioned earlier) for an enhanced musical as well as multimedia experience.

5. Motorola DROID RAZR
To round the list off, finally we have Moto's very own Droid RAZR. Firstly, to set things correct, if the super thinness of HTC Ville appealed to you, Droid RAZR's nigh ludicrous thinness of 0.27 inches will bamboozle you out of your senses. And that's not all; the petite device packs a sweet punch with its TI OMAP 4430 dual 1.2GHz core processor. Other user oriented features include a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 qHD Super AMOLED Advanced panel along with a 8MP primary camera system (of 1080p video capturing capability).
