10 Gadgets we’re anxiously waiting to see at CES 2012

The CES or Consumer Electronic Show has always been the gadgetry wonderland for thousands of tech enthusiasts over the world. Over the recent years, we have seen a myriad of innovative conceptions starting from OLED screens, Motorola Xoom to Intel Infoscape and Glasses Free 4K 3D TV prototype. And now after 44 years of showcasing ingenious gizmos to satiate our geeky side, we are once again on the threshold of the 2012 CES, starting from 10th of January.

This time, quite a few changes and announcements are touted to take place, with Microsoft declaring that it would be their last CES appearance. But for us aficionados, it is the list of advanced gadgets that should take predominance in our perception. So, without further ado, let us check out some of the exalted candidates of this year's CES.

Maker

LG Electronics is all set to introduce their fascinating 'ultra definition' 4K TV at this year's CES.

What is it

Simply put, LG's latest sleek design involves a huge 84-inch LCD television with a whopping 3840x2160 pixels resolution. The contraption will come with many user friendly features such as LG's Cinema 3D and Smart TV attributes, over 1,200 apps, 3D Depth Control and even 3D Sound Zooming for the ultimate theater effect.

What's different

The company has certainly notched up its 3D credentials by integrating a Film Pattern Retarder (FPR) screen and passive glasses for an optimized user experience. More importantly, going by the classy visual look, this conception looks more like a credible product for 2012, rather than some glitzy yet unattainable prototype.



Maker

World's leading mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is all set to showcase its ultra-petite button-less tablet.

What is it

Nokia has so far kept all the specs under tight wraps. But we do know something about the bantam device's size, which is nigh ludicrously kept at 3-inches. As for other solid attributes, tech sites are filled with palaver ranging from this being a Windows tablet to just a programmable badge for office staffers.

What's different

Other than the size, the device seems to be unwieldy for even holding onto the ears. But according to sources, it can have other features such as e-mails, web browsing and watching videos.

Maker

Sony Ericsson has contrived this grandiose product supposedly under their Xperia brand.

Description

Claimed as a 'super phone' by the company, the LT28AT device will be a high-end smartphone with the ICS as its OS, 4G LTE capability, and more importantly: a very powerful camera system.

What's different

The contraption is touted to have a large 4.55-inch Reality Display, along with an astonishing 13 MP BSI camera. As a matter of fact, it would be the first phone to have a camera system beyond the 8 MP barrier. Moreover, the phone will also be endowed with a HD 720p front camera and 720p video playback display.


Maker

The Finnish giant is once again expected to follow up their recent 'Windows' success with two other product lines of Lumia 719 and 900.

What is it

These devices will be full 4G LTE capable phones with a lower screen resolution, which are marketed towards budget smartphone consumers.

What's different

The phones are expected to have the Windows Tango upgrade from the start. According to official Microsoft announcement, the Tango will be a minor upgrade, tailor made for low end systems.



Maker

LG is back once again, and this time it is with their much awaited Google TV system.

What is it

Smart TV companies are certainly making their commercial drive since last year, but LG has chosen the 2012 for its innovative Google TV. As far as specs go, the electronic giant, however, has still kept mum on most of the features to be offered by this futuristic television.

What's different

But the one thing we do know is that LG's product would the first one to be integrated with Google TV 2.0. This means we as consumers can look forth to third-party apps and a completely revamped interface.




Maker

Nintendo is all ready to follow up its Wii with the next generation Wii U.

What is it

The Japanese company has made sure that the CES 2012 will be a show to remember for video game enthusiasts all over the world. This next generation console will have a slew of attributes for an even richer gaming experience, as compared to Wii. This includes a compact size, enhanced net connectivity and improved graphics (powered by IBM Power multi-core microprocessor) set up.

What's different

The most definitive component will obviously be Wii U's ergonomic yet advanced controller. According to sources, this 6.2-inch contraption will have a 16:9 screen with a pair of analog circle pads on either side.

Tech company NajmTek has burst into the vibrant scene with their novel U-Book dual screen laptop.

What is it

The stage was set for the evolutionary dual-screen laptop by Acer Iconia at the last year's CES. And now, NajmTek wants to follow it up with their U-book (aka Universal Notebook). The functionality of the device embodies the practical fusion of netbook, laptop and a tablet.

What's different

In U-Book, the keyboard section will be comprised of a customizable touchscreen system. This means, users can change the intrinsic set up of the keys according to their own personal preference.

Maker

Archos has already announced its very first Honeycomb powered device, in the form 70b Internet tablet.

What is it

According to the designers, the bantam tablet will exhibit a very light weighted bearing for improved portability. Though, it wouldn't be too light on the specs front, with a 1.2 GHz processor, 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, 8 GB of flash storage, 512MB of RAM and full WiFi connectivity.

What's different

But the most impressive thing about 70b IT will be its budget pricing of $199, which is directly comparable to the exalted Kindle Fire.



Maker

Coby Electronics has promised not one, but four tablet models for the first quarter of 2012.

What is it

Ranging from 7-inch to 10-inch models, all of the iterations will be infused with 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, capacitative touchscreens, WiFi support, HDMI 1080p output, and an expandable storage of up to 32GB.

What's different

This would be the first time in the electronic sector that a slew of models from one company will boast of Android's latest offering in the form of Ice Cream Sandwich. Moreover, the devices are also touted to be budget friendly, for the newer consumers.



Maker

Samsung is all set to launch their arguably second generation ultra-book, with a wealth of robust features.

What is it

Christened as the Series 5 Ultra-books, the product line will comprise of two models (13.3-inch and 14-inch screen variants) with individual pricing of $1300 and $1345 respectively. As for the powerful specs, the lower laptop will include an undisclosed second-generation Intel Core processor, up to 8GB of RAM and up to a 500GB HDD or a 128GB SSD. The costlier version will additionally include 1TB of space with an AMD Radeon HD 7550M graphics card and an optical disc drive.

What's different

Other than the usual paraphernalia of processors and hard disk drives, the machines will also be integrated with a built-in 8GB SSD configured specifically for ExpressCache. This, in turn, is expected to improve upon booting speed and accessibility.
